Sensor Devices

Register IoT temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors at /environmental/sensors for automatic environmental logging and excursion detection.

Sensor Devices (/environmental/sensors) connects IoT hardware to Clarix's environmental monitoring module. Registered sensors push temperature, relative humidity, and differential pressure readings automatically — reducing manual log entry and supporting continuous monitoring expectations under USP 797.

What sensor integration provides

CapabilityBenefit
Automatic T/H/pressure readingsContinuous data without manual transcription
Room assignmentLinks each device to a classified area (ISO 5, ISO 7, etc.)
Excursion flaggingOut-of-range readings trigger QA notifications
Audit trailTimestamped ingest history tied to calibrated device IDs

Manual Temperature & Humidity logs at /environmental/temp-humidity remain available for walk-round readings and backup instruments.

Register a sensor

  1. Go to Environmental → Sensor Devices (/environmental/sensors).
  2. Click Add sensor.
  3. Enter a device name and external device ID from your sensor platform.
  4. Select the room this sensor monitors.
  5. Choose the sensor type (temperature, humidity, pressure, or combined).
  6. Save the device.

The device appears in the registry table with last reading time and status when data is flowing.

Integration setup

The page includes an Integration setup panel with:

  • Your organization's ingest API key (rotate if compromised)
  • The webhook URL to configure in Monnit, Dickson, or custom middleware
  • Example payload format for testing

Point your sensor platform at the provided endpoint. Readings appear in the environmental log within seconds of ingest.

Supported platforms

Clarix supports common 503B monitoring hardware patterns:

  • Monnit wireless sensors
  • Dickson data loggers with cloud forwarding
  • Generic HTTP ingest for custom integrations

Use the clarix-sensor-sim tool in development to push test readings against seeded demo devices.

Relationship to EM sampling

Sensor devices capture continuous environmental parameters (T, H, pressure). EM sampling (/environmental/sampling) covers viable and non-viable particulate monitoring with location-based sample records. Both feed excursion workflows and batch record EM sections.

Regulatory reference

USP 797 (2023) — Facilities must monitor and maintain environmental conditions in compounding areas. Automated sensor logging supports documented evidence that classified areas remained within validated temperature and humidity limits during production.
