Batch Templates

Save recurring batch configurations as templates and spin up new production runs in seconds — without re-entering formula, batch size, or setup details each time.

Batch Templates

Batch templates let you save a batch configuration once and reuse it every time you run the same product. Templates capture the formula, batch size, notes, and metadata — so starting a new batch from a template takes seconds instead of minutes.

What is a batch template?

A batch template is a stored production configuration. It is not a batch record and it has no lifecycle — templates are never started, submitted for QA, or released. They exist purely to pre-fill the "Create batch" form for recurring production runs.

Templates are stored in the Templates tab of the Batches catalog, separate from active batch records.

Saving a batch as a template

You can create a template from any existing batch (at any lifecycle state).

  1. Open a batch detail page.
  2. Click Save as template in the batch actions bar (top right).
  3. Enter a template name (e.g., "Standard Famotidine 2500 mL Run").
  4. Optionally add notes describing when to use this configuration.
  5. Click Save. The template appears in the Templates tab immediately.

What is captured: Formula selection and version, batch size quantity and unit, any notes on the source batch. Personnel assignments and scheduled date are not captured — those are entered fresh when creating the new batch.

Creating a batch from a template

From the Templates tab

  1. Go to Batches and click the Templates tab.
  2. Click a template row to open its detail page.
  3. Click Create batch from this template.
  4. A new batch is created in Draft status, pre-filled with the template's formula and batch size.
  5. Assign a technician and scheduled date, then start as normal.

From the template detail page

Templates have their own detail page (linked from the Templates tab). The Create batch from this template button is always visible at the top of the page.

Editing a template

Template names, notes, and batch size can be updated without creating a new batch first.

  1. Open the template detail page from the Templates tab.
  2. Click Edit template in the actions bar.
  3. Update the name, notes, or batch size.
  4. Click Save.

Changes to a template do not affect any batches already created from it.

Deleting a template

  1. Go to Batches → Templates tab.
  2. Find the template row.
  3. Open the row actions menu (⋯) and click Delete template.
  4. Confirm deletion.

Deleted templates cannot be recovered. Batches created from the template are not affected.

Template vs. Clone batch

Clarix has two ways to reuse a batch configuration:

TemplateClone batch
PurposeRecurring production runs — save once, reuse many timesOne-off duplication of a specific batch
PersistsYes — stored in Templates tabNo — creates a new batch immediately
SourceAny batchAny batch
Use whenYou run the same formula/size repeatedlyYou want to duplicate a specific recent batch

Use templates for recurring products (your standard Famotidine or Vancomycin runs). Use Clone when you want to repeat a specific batch with minor changes.
